ArtFond or Wix: which to choose as an artist in 2026

Wix is the most flexible of the big website builders: over 2,000 templates, an editor where you can move anything, and an app market for every case. ArtFond isn't a website builder: it's an artist's site plus the documents an artist has to produce anyway. Below are the facts, prices as of the day we checked them, and an honest word on who is better off staying with Wix.

  1. Three ArtFond plans; the difference is the number of artworks and the extra tools. QR labels, the press kit, and invoices come with Pro; the certificate register and contracts are on Unlimited.
  2. Wix prices by country; the table shows US prices.
  3. When you're paid through your own Stripe or PayPal. Wix takes no platform commission on sales either; the Wix Payments processing fee is separate.

Who is better off staying with Wix

  • You want complete design freedom. The Wix editor lets you put any element anywhere. ArtFond has templates, variants, and settings, but not an editor like that.
  • Your site is for a business far from art. A restaurant, a salon, a fitness studio, online courses: Wix has an app for each. ArtFond has a blog and art services with booking and payment (workshops, consultations), but everything is built around an artist's practice.
  • You already have a Wix site you like. Then ArtFond can sit alongside it: the catalogue, certificates, and application documents work regardless of where your main site lives.

Who ArtFond is for

  • You produce the documents by hand every time. Portfolio PDF, CV, artist statement, a certificate for a sold artwork, all assembled from one catalogue. Add an artwork and it's in the next portfolio.
  • You apply to open calls and residencies. A board of opportunities and an application pack drawn from what's already on your site.
  • You don't want to build the site yourself. With Wix, freedom means you put together the structure, design, and texts. In ArtFond the site is built from your artworks and your bio, and the technical side is ours, for good.
  • You need to be able to take everything with you. The catalogue with descriptions and images exports in full, and the domain is yours.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move my site from Wix to ArtFond? Yes. Give us a link to your site: ArtFond reads the artworks with their titles and descriptions straight from Wix and builds a draft. You look at it before deciding anything. You move the domain whenever you like.

Can I keep both? Yes. Some people keep their site on Wix and run the catalogue, certificates, and application documents in ArtFond.

Wix has a free plan. Does ArtFond? No. There are 14 days without a card, then from €15 a month. The free Wix plan shows Wix advertising and doesn't let you connect your own domain.

Will switching help me sell more? Not the switch by itself. A clear artwork page with a price, a Buy button, and a convenient way to pay raise the likelihood of a sale, but don't guarantee it, and Wix has them too. No site brings buyers on its own: it receives the people who are already interested in your work.
