A website shouldn't depend on the person who built it
That's where ArtFond began. Today the idea is broader — a site should be a helper, not a burden.
How it started
I'm a programmer. Years ago I built a website for my wife — she's an artist, and she needed a place she could send a curator with a single link, no folders and no 40 MB PDFs.
The site turned out beautiful. Two years later it was dead. Not because something broke — because only one person could update it. Me. Every new work, every changed price, every exhibition went through me. And when I had no time, the site had no life.
Then I started hearing the same thing from other artists. “Someone built me a site once — now they don't answer, and I can't even change a photo.” Again and again, almost word for word. A site that rests on one person is a site with an expiry date.
That's how ArtFond began. The idea was simple from the start: an artist's website shouldn't depend on whoever built it.
Why we exist
We take the technical side on ourselves — for good. Domain, hosting, security, updates: that's our job, not yours. Your site never goes stale — we keep updating it, adding new things, keeping it current while you don't even think about it. What's left for you is the thing it was all for — creating.
We're not a website builder. A builder hands you an empty canvas and leaves you alone with it. We give you a frame with the technical and career weight already lifted: portfolio, sales, findability on Google, catalogs, certificates — everything you'd otherwise have to assemble from ten services and one programmer friend.
And it's yours — really yours. On someone else's social network the account can be blocked overnight, and nothing of your presence survives. Here it's different: the domain is yours and you can take it anytime; every work, with its descriptions, exports to a full catalog in a couple of clicks. You're not locked in — if you ever decide to leave, you leave with your domain and all your content, ready to move anywhere.
