A website shouldn't depend on the person who built it
That's where ArtFond started. The idea has grown since: your website should work for you, not weigh on you.
How it started
I'm a programmer. Years ago I built a website for my wife — she's an artist, and she needed one place she could send a curator with a single link. No folders, no 40 MB PDFs.
It came out beautiful. Two years later it was dead — not because anything broke, but because only one person could update it. Me. Every new piece, every price change, every show had to go through me. And when I ran out of time, the site ran out of life.
Then I started hearing it from other artists, almost word for word: “Someone built me a site once — now they've vanished, and I can't even swap a photo.” A website that rests on one person has a shelf life.
That's why I built ArtFond. The idea was simple from day one: an artist's website shouldn't depend on whoever made it.
Why we exist
The technical side is on us — for good. Domain, hosting, security, updates: our job, not yours. And your site never gets stale — we keep it updated, add new things, keep it current, without you ever having to think about it. That leaves you the one thing this was all for: the work.
We're not a website builder. A builder hands you a blank canvas and leaves you to it. We hand you a frame with the technical and career weight already lifted — portfolio, sales, getting found on Google, catalogs, certificates. Everything you'd otherwise stitch together from ten different tools and one programmer friend.
And it's yours — genuinely. On a social platform your account can vanish overnight, and everything you built there goes with it. Not here. The domain is yours, to take whenever you like; your whole body of work, descriptions and all, exports to a full catalog in a couple of clicks. You're never locked in — the day you want to leave, you leave with your domain and everything on it, ready to set up anywhere.
